Take a close look at this child.  Notice anything?  OK.  Yes she is half clothed, but there is an joyous reason!  She is wearing big girl panties!  I am so excited!

I am overjoyed at the prospect of after nearly 11 years of buying diapers, I am nearly to the finish line!  I must convey to you that I have bought and changed diapers for almost 11 years straight!  No breaks!  You are wondering how much I have spent over the years.  I don't want to know!  I dabbled in cloth diapers, but when you have more than 2 kids, it is difficult.  For me anyway.  I know you super mom's are out there!  I am not nearly organized enough!  Thus I failed homeschooling as well.. this is making me think of all of my failures.   There are many. Maybe sometime I will devote myself to exposing my failures to you.  Not today.

Today I rejoice in my youngest child pooping in the pink potty chair!  I rejoice that God has granted me this time with her.  I am grateful that His children are mine to share with Him,  for a short while.  I am certain that every day is precious.  This day, that is so seemingly huge to me is rather small in the grand scheme of things.  As my Dad would say "Today doesn't matter a hill of beans!  It is what you do every day for Christ that makes a difference."  True.  As I listen to my sweet Lillian sing "Mighty to Save"(seriously!)  I am humbly blessed.

I must add on here.  I am aware that I have some dear friends that will never know the joy of your child being potty trained.  I am sorry if this moment in my life causes any pain for you. Know that that would never be my intention.  This morning I was reminded that Christ can't lead us somewhere that He refuses to go.  He may lead you into a place that is difficult, but He has promised to walk there with you.   I pray that you will continue to have comfort in our Heavenly Father!

Sarah, I am anticipating this joy of being diaper free that you have! November 25 will mark 11 years of diapers for us, as well! I'll bet if you ask Bruce, he'll be able to tell you how much money you've spent on diapers. He once figured up what we will be spending on car insurance..with 5 kids. Out of nowhere he told us that. I don't really talk to him that much, but he figured that up for us. Depressing. :)
Love ya! Libby

How exciting!!!!!!! I LOVE that photo, for some reason - the lighting is beautiful!

The last part of what you wrote made me smile! :)

Also, did I tell you that the other night I couldn't get to sleep so I repeated your kids' names in my head? I am officially a dork. I just love names! I kept forgetting Lydia and I almost went down to the computer to see who I was forgetting.

It's official - I'm a nerd.

We rejoice with you in your newly found freedom. We are at the 10 year mark of diaper usage. We are still potty-training the oldest. He spends almost as much time on the toilet as I did when I was his age, not quite (we were homeschooling and I would hide fun books in the bathroom--why didn't mom take me to specialist after multiple 1-2 hour sessions in the bathroom....). Hmmm, come to think of it he has a very large stash of books in the bathroom too (he LOVES books)...we also sing a lot and play the tambourine, and other random instruments (sometimes even an accordian!). Sometimes it's a pain, sometime's it's depressing but how can you not be happy when you see the proud look on his face when he's "taken care of his business" (usually because we're shouting yay!!!). It's really cute because Lucy likes to sit on her tiny potty chair when he's on the big one! It's too precious for words! Sorry for the long post, congrats again!--Marie
